The Open Source universe is ALL about community. OSS projects are great but what propels them to stardom &, more importantly, massive user adoption are its people.
If you've ever wanted to get more involved in or even start a local user group, attend this session to find out:
-tools to creating a successful tech user group
-reaching out to & partnering with others (whether individuals or other groups)
-dealing with community difficulties/distractions
-where to look for sponsors
-how to interact with recruiters
-empowering members & fellow organizers
-how producing community events can have both a learning effect & make your favorite open source project better
-and much, much more!
I've never professed to know it all so I'm planning on this session being a panel discussion. My goal is to make it as diverse as possible- project scope, PHP/Mobile/Drupal communities, location & gender/race. So stay tuned for upcoming additions of co-presenters.
